Light Conveyor Belt Applications & Performance
Date:2024-06-19 14:54:23 Browse :Light conveyor belts are mainly used for indoor transportation of unit loads (such as parcels, bags, cans, containers, luggage, various industrial goods and foods). In most cases, light conveyor belts are installed on machines as part of the machine, so they are called
machine belts. Light duty conveyor belts are responsible for conveying or other additional work as conveying components in the production link or production process. In this application, machine belts sometimes have specific names.
Equipment used for pure conveying includes paper processing machines (printing, cutting, etc.), letter sorting and cancellation machines, automatic ticket vending and ticket coating machines, and packaging machines.
Equipment used to participate in the production link or production process: newspaper stacking machines, dough processing machines, chocolate and candy processing machines, special processing machines for paper and plastic films, and cigarette making machines.
Machine belts with specific names: folded colloid belts, tubular winder belts, printing felts;
Processing belts for drying, coating, particleboard manufacturing and other purposes.
Other applications
Chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, agricultural products, wood, and tobacco are the bulk materials transported by light duty conveyor belts. These are basically indoor applications or outdoor applications under cover. For example, granular or powdered materials, grains, rice, fruits, vegetables, wood boards, and tobacco.
Light duty belt conveyor are less common in outdoor applications. Still, there is an increasing trend, such as agricultural machinery, especially harvesters.
2. Structure
Under normal circumstances, the tensile strength of light duty conveyor belts is obtained by using synthetic fiber layers (polyamide, polyester, etc.), which are connected together with adhesives or intermediate layers of different thicknesses (usually thermoplastic materials).
The two sides of the cover layer are functionally related to the material, thickness and texture. These combinations are all possible from very thin impregnation to very thick coating, from very smooth to very rough surfaces. The cover layer material can be thermoplastics (PVC, TPU, etc.), cross-linked synthetics (rubber, PUR, etc.) and many other materials, which vary in hardness and formulation. There are also many highly specialized constructions of conveyor belts - very elastic belts, large belts, surfaces with high or low friction properties, etc.
3. Dimensions
Light conveyor belts are often produced with large widths (up to several meters) and then cut to the required size. The dimensions of light conveyor belts need to be standardized. Light conveyor belts are mainly used in non-standardized installations, so standardization does not apply. The total thickness varies from a few tenths of a millimeter to 10 mm, mainly depending on the specific application (for example, the thickness of light conveyor belts in the paper industry should be ≥ 10 mm). The width varies from 10 mm (conveyor belts) to several meters (processing belts). The length varies from about 500 mm to 100 m.
4. Performance
The ultimate tensile strength varies from less than 100 N/mm bandwidth to several hundred Newtons per mm bandwidth (for example, the tensile strength of highly specialized belt constructions with aramid fabrics is about 1000 N/mm width). The maximum permissible working load is about 1/10 of the ultimate tensile strength. Belts' performance range is very wide and is related to their function. In many cases, belts are designed according to highly specialized requirements.
Special light conveyor belts for the electronics industry have a highly conductive coating with a very low surface resistance. They do not generate a measurable electric field strength during operation and have a strong antistatic ability.
Most of the light conveyor belts in general have a coating of insulators that can generate high electric field strength. However, due to the conductive layer inside the light conveyor belt, no significant electric field strength is generated for some belts during operation. From a technical point of view, these belts are antistatic.
In general, light conveyor belts are widely used and can be seen everywhere. Types of light conveyor belts include PU belts, PVC belts, canvas conveyor belts, modular plastic conveyor belts, felt conveyor belts, and Teflon conveyor belts.
